In season 11, episode 8 of Face Off, titled "Odd Couples," the remaining contestants are paired up to create their own unique odd couple creature. The episode opens with the artists meeting with their partners and selecting from a list of animal pairs. The pairs include a lion and a hummingbird, a rhino and a flamingo, and a hare and a tortoise, among others.
Each team must work together to seamlessly blend the two animals into one cohesive creature. They must consider the physical attributes and personalities of each animal and incorporate them into their design. The pairs must also create a backstory for their creature, explaining how these two animals came to be together and what makes them unique.
As the teams begin sculpting and applying makeup, tensions rise as creative differences emerge. Some teams struggle to harmoniously blend their animals, while others work well together to create stunningly unique designs. The judges offer guidance and critique as the artists work to perfect their creations.
In addition to the main challenge, the artists must also create a small, secondary creature inspired by their odd couple design. This creature must be fully realized and incorporated into the final presentation.
After the creatures are completed, the artists must pitch their designs to the judges in an attempt to earn a spot in the top looks. The top looks will then be presented in front of a live audience.
With the pressure on, the artists work tirelessly to put the finishing touches on their creations before presenting them to the judges. With an array of intricately designed odd couple creatures on display, it's anyone's game as to who will come out on top in this exciting episode of Face Off.
