F Troop is an American sitcom that aired on ABC network from 1965 to 1967. The show was set in the late 1800s in the fictional Fort Courage in Kansas. The storyline revolved around the mishaps of the soldiers of F Troop, who often found themselves caught in comical situations amidst Native Americans, outlaws, and other foes.
In season 2, episode 18, titled "From Karate with Love," the F Troop gang is up to their usual antics. The episode begins with Captain Parmenter showing off his new skill of karate to Sergeant O'Rourke and Corporal Agarn. However, they soon find out that Parmenter's karate skills are not as impressive as he made them out to be.
Meanwhile, Chief Wild Eagle and Crazy Cat, from the nearby Indian reservation, come to the fort to seek help. The Indian council has received a distress call from Princess Kwong, the ruler of the neighboring country of Kaminga. Princess Kwong's country has been taken over by her wicked cousin, the Duke of Kaminga, who has imprisoned her in her own palace.
Chief Wild Eagle seeks F Troop's help in rescuing Princess Kwong, as the Duke's army greatly outnumbers theirs. Sergeant O'Rourke sees this as an opportunity to make a quick profit and convinces the troops to help the Indians for a share of the rewards.
The F Troop joins the Indian warriors and sets off to rescue Princess Kwong. Meanwhile, the scheming Sergeant O'Rourke convinces Captain Parmenter that karate is the key to defeating the Duke's army. Parmenter, eager to prove himself, agrees and starts teaching karate to the Indian warriors and the F Troop soldiers.
The rescue mission takes a comedic turn when the group reaches the palace and realizes that the entire army is composed of women, who have been trained in karate themselves. The women warriors, led by Princess Kwong, easily defeat the inadequately trained F Troop and Indian soldiers. Parmenter is the only one who manages to defeat a few women soldiers using his karate skills, but he soon realizes that he has been played by Sergeant O'Rourke, who had arranged this entire debacle to swindle the troops out of their share of the rewards.
In the end, the F Troop is able to escape the palace, and Sergeant O'Rourke's plan fails miserably. However, they all learn a valuable lesson about overconfidence and the importance of training and preparation. The episode ends with them back at Fort Courage, Captain Parmenter still trying to perfect his karate moves, much to the amusement of the rest of the gang.
Overall, "From Karate with Love" is a classic episode of F Troop that showcases the show's trademark humor, slapstick comedy, and witty writing. It is an enjoyable watch even for those who are not familiar with the show's characters and storyline.
