Sergeant O'Rourke and Corporal Agarn are assigned to escort a young boy named Wilton to his father's ranch. Wilton is an orphan who recently inherited the ranch, and his father's close friend, Major Wellby, has taken custody of him until he turns 21. However, Wellby has other plans for the ranch and wants to sell it to a group of businessmen who plan to turn it into a resort.
Unbeknownst to Wellby, Wilton is a skilled gunslinger and has no intention of letting the ranch go without a fight. Along the way, they are ambushed by a group of bandits who are also after the ranch. With help from the F Troop, Wilton and the soldiers are able to repel the bandits and make it to the ranch.
Once there, they discover that the ranch hands are all gone and the ranch has fallen into disrepair. Wilton, O'Rourke, and Agarn work together to get the ranch back in shape and fend off Wellby and the businessmen.
In the end, Wilton proves himself to be a competent and responsible ranch owner, and the men of F Troop gain a new respect for him. O'Rourke and Agarn return to Fort Courage, but not before Wilton gifts them with horses as a token of his gratitude.
Overall, "Wilton, the Kid" is an entertaining episode that showcases the comedic talents of the F Troop cast while also providing a heartwarming story about a young man finding his place in the world.
