Ep 1. Orlando Bloom

In the first episode of season two of Extras, Andy Millman (played by Ricky Gervais) is back with his friend and fellow extra Maggie Jacobs (played by Ashley Jensen). Andy still hasn’t made it big as an actor in Hollywood, so he continues to work as an extra on sets.

In this episode, the two friends are on the set of a film where Orlando Bloom is playing a monk. Andy is immediately starstruck and can’t stop staring at him from afar. Maggie warns him not to make a fool of himself, but Andy can’t help wanting to talk to him.

Things take a hilarious turn when Andy is mistaken for a stand-in for Orlando Bloom during a scene. The director is yelling at him to get the scene right, but Andy doesn’t know what to do. When Orlando shows up on set, Andy tries to play it cool but ends up embarrassing himself in front of the star.

Despite this initial incident, Orlando seems to take a liking to Andy and invites him and Maggie to his trailer for a drink. This is where Andy’s true feelings towards Orlando Bloom become clear. He can’t help but gush over how much he loves Orlando, and it’s cringe-worthy to watch.

Things get even worse when Andy accidentally lights Orlando’s suit on fire with a cigarette lighter. Orlando kicks him out of his trailer and Andy is devastated. He thinks he’s completely ruined his chances of ever being a successful actor.

Feeling low, Andy calls his agent Darren (played by Stephen Merchant) for reassurance. But Darren is no help. He tells Andy that he still thinks he’s not a good enough actor to make anything of himself in Hollywood.

Despite Darren’s harsh words, Andy decides to take matters into his own hands. He writes Orlando Bloom a letter of apology, telling him how sorry he is for what happened and how much he admires him as an actor. He hopes that Orlando will forgive him.

In the final scene of the episode, Andy is surprised to find out that not only has Orlando forgiven him, but he’s actually recommended him to a producer for a new film. Andy is over the moon and feels like his dream of becoming a successful actor might finally be coming true.

Overall, the first episode of season two of Extras is classic Ricky Gervais comedy. It’s cringe-worthy, hilarious, and heartwarming all at the same time. Watching Andy fumble his way through trying to impress Orlando Bloom is both painful and entertaining. The episode is a great start to the season and leaves you wanting more.
