In season 1 episode 5 of the British television series "Extras", titled "Samuel L. Jackson", Andy Millman (Ricky Gervais) - a struggling actor looking for his big break - gets a chance to work as an extra on a film set with famous Hollywood actor Samuel L. Jackson.
At first, Andy is excited about the opportunity to meet and work with his favorite actor, but things don't go as planned. As they wait for filming to begin, Andy tries to make small talk with Samuel L. Jackson but only manages to embarrass himself with his nervous and awkward behavior.
Meanwhile, Andy's friend and fellow extra Maggie (Ashley Jensen) strikes up a conversation with Sam Jackson and they seem to hit it off. This leaves Andy feeling left out and even more anxious about the situation.
As the day goes on, more mishaps occur. The director (David Bowie) isn't happy with Andy's acting abilities and keeps having him redo his scenes. In frustration, Andy accidentally spills coffee on Samuel L. Jackson's wardrobe, leading to one of the funniest scenes in the episode.
Despite all the setbacks, Andy manages to make an impression on the director and is rewarded with a small speaking role in the film's climactic scene. However, on the day of the shoot, Andy's nerves get the best of him and he botches his lines. Samuel L. Jackson tries to reassure him and help him through the scene, showing a surprisingly warm and supportive side to his usually tough and aggressive public persona.
In the end, Andy is grateful for the experience and even gets to take a photo with Samuel L. Jackson as a memento of the day. Maggie also surprises him with a copy of the film's script, which contains an extra line for Andy that wasn't even in the final cut.
Overall, "Extras" season 1 episode 5 is a hilarious and heartwarming exploration of the ups and downs of the entertainment industry, as well as the power of celebrity and the importance of staying true to oneself. With a stellar guest appearance by Samuel L. Jackson, this episode is sure to entertain viewers of all ages and backgrounds.
