Expecting Amish is a dramatic film that tells the story of Hannah Yoder, played by AJ Michalka, a teenager who is a member of the strict Amish community. The film explores the conflicts that arise when Hannah falls pregnant after being shunned by the Amish community and makes the difficult decision to leave her community and give her child up for adoption.

The movie is set in a rural Amish community where strict beliefs and traditions form the basis of their way of life. Hannah is a young woman who has been brought up in this strict community but has always had a passion for music that goes against the Amish way.

Hannah falls pregnant after she leaves her community for a night out with her friends, who are also shunned from the community for breaking the strict Amish rules. After discovering her pregnancy, Hannah is faced with the difficult decision of what to do and how to deal with the situation. She knows that if she tells her family, she will be shunned forever, and so she keeps her pregnancy a secret.

With the help of her friends, Esther and Sarah, played by Alyson Stoner and Cayden Boyd, Hannah manages to hide her pregnancy for several months, but as her due date approaches, she knows she cannot keep it a secret much longer.

Meanwhile, the film explores the challenges and conflicts that arise when Hannah’s boyfriend, Isaac played by Jesse McCartney, decides to leave the Amish community to be with her. Isaac’s decision is not taken lightly by his family, who believe that the only way to salvation is through the Amish faith. As a consequence, he is disowned by his family, and he has to make a life for himself in the outside world.

Hannah finds it difficult to adjust to the outside world, and her pregnancy adds to her confusion and feelings of isolation. She feels torn between her love for Isaac and her family, and her beliefs and traditions. Despite her struggles, her love for child overpowers her and she decides to go through with the adoption.

The film does an excellent job of exploring the inner workings of the Amish community and how their strict beliefs and traditions often clash with modern society. It shows how difficult it can be for someone brought up in an Amish community to adjust to the outside world and how they often feel isolated and alone.

In Expecting Amish, the cast delivers a strong performance, with AJ Michalka effortlessly portraying Hannah’s struggles and emotions, Jesse McCartney as Isaac, is equally convincing as he tries to navigate his love for Hannah alongside his family traditions. Alyson Stoner and Cayden Boyd give strong supporting roles as Hannah’s friends.

The film touches on issues of teen pregnancy, family and religious beliefs, and the struggles of young people trying to find their place in the world. Although the film takes a look at the struggles of one group of people, it addresses issues that are universal and touches on the struggles that many young people face.

In conclusion, Expecting Amish is an engaging film that tells a powerful and emotional story of a young Amish girl, her struggles to navigate the world, and her difficult decision to give up her child for adoption. It’s a moving story that explores complex issues and themes, and the cast’s performances are strong and authentic. The film is recommended for anyone interested in exploring the intricacies of Amish culture and how it clashes with modern life.
