When we live with someone, it can take time to figure out their true nature. Sometimes, we might notice something is off or feel uncomfortable, but we can't pinpoint exactly what it is. In season 10 episode 11 of Evil Lives Here titled "Nobody Believed Me," we hear from family members who had gut instincts that something wasn't right about their loved ones but were unable to convince others to believe them.
In this episode, we meet Sarah, who grew up with her mother and stepfather. At first, Sarah thought her stepfather was a kind and loving man who treated her like his own daughter. But as she got older, she began to notice strange behaviors that made her feel uneasy. He would overreact to small things or become aggressive when he was angry. Sarah's mother seemed to think that these outbursts were just a part of his personality and that Sarah was being too sensitive.
Despite trying to discuss her stepfather's behavior with her mother, Sarah felt like no one believed her concerns. She had no proof that he was doing anything wrong, so she began to keep her distance from him. However, Sarah's stepfather had a darker secret that she couldn't have imagined, and it would change her life forever.
Another person who struggled to be believed was Lisa, whose brother-in-law seemed to be a model family man. The entire family loved him, and he was highly respected in his community. However, Lisa began to see glimpses of his true character when her sister married him. He would make inappropriate comments or lecherous advances towards Lisa, and she knew that he wasn't the good man everyone thought he was.
Despite the fact that Lisa tried to get her sister to see what was going on, her sister was adamant that Lisa was being too harsh towards her husband. Lisa's warnings fell on deaf ears, but it wouldn't be long before the truth about her brother-in-law was revealed, and it was worse than anyone could have imagined.
Evil Lives Here takes a deep dive into the stories of individuals who had to live with someone they knew was evil. In many cases, they tried to reach out for help or convince others that something was wrong, but their pleas fell on deaf ears. In the end, they were left to deal with the aftermath of a person who was capable of unspeakable acts.
