Ep 2. Counseling

Raymond and Debra continue to have problems with their marriage, so they decide to go to counseling to help them work through their issues. After some initial reluctance, they open up to the counselor and begin to explore their feelings and communication styles. Along the way, they discover that they have different ideas about what they want from their relationship, and that they need to learn to compromise in order to find common ground.

Meanwhile, Frank is feeling neglected by Marie and decides to enlist Robert's help in getting her attention. Robert suggests that Frank try to make Marie jealous by going on a date with a younger woman, but things quickly spiral out of control when the woman turns out to be more interested in Robert than Frank. As Frank tries to salvage his pride, Robert finds himself in the unexpected position of having to turn down a woman's advances.

Back at the counseling session, Raymond and Debra continue to make progress and even have a breakthrough when they realize that they both share a fear of being vulnerable with each other. With the help of the counselor, they come up with strategies for opening up and building trust, and begin to feel hopeful about the future of their marriage.

As the episode concludes, the Barone family gathers for dinner and reflects on the events of the day. Raymond and Debra express their gratitude for each other and commit to working on their relationship, while Frank tries to play off his failed date as just a harmless experiment. In the end, everyone seems a little bit closer and a little bit wiser, and there is a sense that despite their differences and flaws, they all love each other deeply.
