In Everybody Loves Raymond's fifth season, the eighth episode is called Fighting In-Laws. In this episode, the audience is treated to a classic family feud story with a comedic twist. The titular Raymond has to deal with the fact that his in-laws, the Barones, aren't getting along with his parents, Marie and Frank.

The episode starts with a mundane day at Ray's home, where he is trying to relax with his family. Robert and his girlfriend Amy are over, and Ray's two young children are playing around. However, Ray's relaxation is cut short when his wife, Debra, gets a call from her mother. Debra's mother, Lois, wants to invite the Barones over for an afternoon visit. Ray doesn't think that's a great idea, given that his parents have been bickering with Lois and her husband, Warren. Nevertheless, Debra convinces him to call Marie and Frank over.

When the Barones arrive at Debra's house, tensions are already brewing between the two families. Marie and Frank can't help but pick on Lois and Warren, and to add insult to injury, they bring up old family grudges and rivalries. Lois and Warren try to take the high road, but eventually, their patience runs out, and the two families get into a heated argument. Debra tries to defuse the situation, but her efforts only make things worse.

After the fight, Raymond tries to play the peacemaker by talking to his parents and in-laws. He tries to explain that they don't have to get along perfectly, but they should at least try to be civil. Marie and Frank, however, refuse to take any responsibility for their role in the fight and insist that it's Lois and Warren's fault. Debra and Ray both get fed up with their parents' stubbornness and decide to take drastic action.

Debra and Ray decide that the only way to get their parents to get along is to stage an intervention. They invite both families back over with the promise of a peaceful reconciliation, but instead, they confront them about their behavior. Debra and Ray explain that their parents' behavior is causing unnecessary stress on the entire family, and they must make an effort to get along. To their surprise, the intervention works. Lois and Warren apologize for their role in the fight, and Marie and Frank admit that they were wrong to bring up old grudges.

The episode ends with both families coming together for a meal, and surprisingly, they're all getting along well. Despite their initial reluctance, Marie and Frank realize that they actually have a lot in common with Lois and Warren. The two families even bond over their shared love of baseball. In the end, the episode showcases that family feuds can be resolved with sincere efforts from both sides, and sometimes, even the most unlikely people can find common ground.
