Ep 10. Hutch Boy

Hutch Boy is the tenth episode of the third season of the American comedy television show Even Stevens. The episode was directed by Fred Savage and written by Dennis Rinsler. It aired on Disney Channel on February 14, 2003.

The episode revolves around Louis Stevens (played by Shia LeBeouf) and his quest to buy a new bike. His best friend, Twitty (played by A.J. Trauth), tells him about a bike shop nearby that sells bikes at a discount. Louis is immediately interested and sets off to the shop. When he arrives, he finds out that the owner is Hutch, a boy who was in his kindergarten class.

After some awkward reminiscing, Hutch tells Louis that he has a rare condition that makes him age slowly. He is actually in his late 20s, but looks like he is still in his early teens. Louis is skeptical, but Hutch convinces him by showing him his driver's license and other identification cards.

Louis is initially excited to have a "grown-up" friend who can help him buy beer and cigarettes, but he starts to feel guilty about taking advantage of Hutch's situation. He confides in his sister, Ren (played by Christy Carlson Romano), who advises him to be careful and not to hurt Hutch's feelings.

Meanwhile, Ren is dealing with her own problems when her crush, Bobby (played by Trent Ford), asks her out on a date. Ren is thrilled until she realizes that she has a zit on her forehead. She tries various remedies to get rid of it but only makes it worse. She finally decides to embrace her imperfection and goes out on her date with Bobby.

Back at the bike shop, Louis and Twitty are having a good time hanging out with Hutch, but Louis starts to feel guilty again when he realizes that Hutch is spending money on them that he doesn't really have. He tries to return the money, but Hutch refuses, saying that he just wants to have some fun and feel like a normal teenager for once.

Louis starts to feel even worse when he finds out that Hutch's condition is getting worse and that he might not have much time left. He decides to make the most of their time together and organizes a party at the bike shop with all of their friends. Hutch is thrilled and grateful, and Louis learns an important lesson about taking advantage of people.

The episode ends with Louis and Hutch riding their bikes together and Louis realizing how lucky he is to have a true friend like Hutch.
