Louis Stevens is very excited about the upcoming basketball game, but his crush Tawny Dean is more excited about the upcoming dance. Louis tries to impress Tawny by telling her that he is also good at dancing. Tawny challenges him to prove it at the dance. Louis practices dancing with his sister Ren, but he still struggles with the rhythm. Meanwhile, Ren is trying to get her basketball team ready for the game against her school's rival. She is determined to help her team win, even if it means going against the coach's orders.
As the day progresses, Louis becomes more and more nervous about the dance. He confides in Beans, his best friend, who advises him to take some of his dad's "relaxation" tea. The tea has an unexpected effect on Louis, making him even more nervous and jittery. He arrives at the dance sweating and shaking, but still determined to impress Tawny with his moves. However, once he starts dancing, he realizes that he is not as good as he thought he was. Tawny tries to help him, but they end up embarrassing themselves in front of everyone.
At the same time, Ren's basketball game is not going as planned. The opposing team is playing dirty, and Ren's team is struggling to keep up. Ren decides to take matters into her own hands and starts breaking the coach's rules. Her risky moves pay off, and her team starts gaining ground. However, when the coach realizes what she's been doing, he benches her. Ren is devastated, but her teammates tell her that they couldn't have won without her.
Back at the dance, the situation between Louis and Tawny is still awkward. However, when Louis sees Tawny getting harassed by some older boys, he jumps to her defense. He may not be the best dancer, but he proves to Tawny that he's a decent guy. The two of them end up having a good time together, and Louis realizes that he doesn't need to be a perfect dancer to impress someone.
The episode ends with Ren's team winning the basketball game, and Louis and Tawny sharing a sweet moment under the stars. It's a heartwarming episode about the challenges of adolescence, and the importance of standing up for oneself and one's friends.
