Bulgaria, the fifth episode of the fourth season of Europe from Above, explores the stunning natural beauty and historical landmarks of this eastern European country. The episode takes us on a journey to discover Bulgaria's majestic mountain ranges, vibrant cities, and ancient ruins.

We begin the episode by soaring high above the majestic Rila Mountains, one of Bulgaria's most picturesque landscapes. As the episode progresses, we dive deeper into Bulgaria's rich cultural heritage. We visit the Rila Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage site that dates back to the 10th century. From above, we are treated to an amazing view of the monastery's intricate architecture, including its iconic frescoes and colorful domes.

The episode also takes us on a journey to explore Bulgaria's many natural wonders. We visit the stunning Melnik Pyramids, a unique geological formation that is often compared to a miniature Grand Canyon. From above, we are presented with a breathtaking view of these spires, towering above forested hillsides and patchwork fields.

Throughout the episode, we are treated to a fascinating glimpse into Bulgarian history and culture. We learn about the country's tumultuous past and how it has shaped modern-day Bulgaria. We also get a sense of the country's many cultural influences, including Persian, Ottoman, and Soviet.
