Ep 2. Stuntin' Like My Daddy

In Euphoria season 1 episode 2, entitled "Stuntin' Like My Daddy," we see Rue, the main character, get herself into more trouble. After the events of the previous episode, she's been making an effort to stay clean and not use drugs. However, this is proving to be difficult for her and in this episode, she's struggling even more to stay on the straight and narrow.

We see her attending her Narcotics Anonymous group, where she introduces herself as an addict to the group. She listens to a girl named Ali talk about her experience with addiction and recovery, and it seems as though Rue is genuinely taking it all in. However, as soon as the meeting is over, she leaves with Jules, the new girl in town who she met in the first episode. They go to a carnival and smoke weed together on the Ferris wheel.

While at the carnival, they run into Rue's childhood friend, Lexi. Jules takes an instant liking to her and they all end up hanging out for the rest of the night. We see a flashback of Rue and Lexi as kids, where Rue's mom is throwing a big party at their house. Rue and Lexi are playing in the backyard and Rue ends up falling into the pool. She nearly drowns and Lexi saves her. This moment seems to be important as we see Rue look at Lexi in a different light after this.

The three of them end up at a house party and Rue is really struggling to stay sober. She's the only one who's not under the influence of drugs or alcohol and she starts to feel left out. She ends up leaving the party to buy drugs, but accidentally bumps into Fezco, the drug dealer from the first episode. He's angry with her for not coming back to him for more drugs and warns her that if she doesn't start buying drugs from him again, he'll be forced to sell to someone else.

Rue ends up texting Jules, who comes to find her outside. Rue tells her that she's going to buy drugs and use them, but Jules tries to talk her out of it. She tells Rue that she doesn't need drugs to be interesting or fun and that she's perfectly fine just being herself. Rue seems to take this to heart and decides not to buy the drugs after all.

The episode ends with Rue and Jules lying on a rooftop, looking up at the stars. They talk about the different constellations and Jules tells Rue that she wants to go on a road trip with her someday. Rue seems to be warming up to the idea, but she's still struggling with staying clean.

Overall, "Stuntin' Like My Daddy" is an intense episode that shows the difficult journey that Rue is on. We see her fight with her addiction and try to resist the temptations that are constantly thrown her way. We also see the budding friendship between Rue and Jules, which seems to be a bright spot in Rue's otherwise turbulent life. The episode provides a realistic and honest portrayal of drug addiction, and it's clear that this is going to be a major theme throughout the series.
