Estoy Vivo is a Spanish TV series that explores the supernatural and sci-fi genres, with elements of action and police investigation. The show follows the story of a detective named Manuel Márquez who, after being murdered by a serial killer, awakens in the body of a police officer named Elías Mato. Season 3 picks up the story from where the previous season left off, as Elías/Manuel continues to live a double life, keeping his true identity a secret as he investigates crimes.
Season 3 Episode 1 is titled "La Muerte Forma Parte de La Vida" (Death is a Part of Life) and it sets the stage for the rest of the season. This episode starts with a bang, as a group of criminals attempt to rob a bank. However, things quickly spiral out of control when one of the robbers turns on his comrades and kills them all. He then takes a group of hostages and demands to speak to Manuel Márquez. Meanwhile, the real Manuel is having a crisis of his own. He is still struggling to come to terms with his new body and the fact that he is technically dead.
The episode explores themes of mortality and the supernatural, as the hostage-taker reveals that he believes in the supernatural after experiencing some strange occurrences in his life. He tells Manuel that he wants him to help him speak to his dead wife, who he believes is watching over him. Manuel is skeptical but decides to humor the man in order to keep the hostages safe. He attempts to channel the dead wife using his own supposed psychic powers, but things quickly go off the rails when he realizes that the hostage-taker is not as innocent as he seems.
Elsewhere, we see the aftermath of the previous season's climax, as Elías (now fully aware of Manuel's identity) struggles to deal with his own guilt and the mechanics of sharing a body with another person. He is particularly haunted by comments made by his own wife, who reminds him that he is not Manuel Márquez and that he is living a lie.
Throughout the episode, the tension builds as the hostage situation at the bank becomes more complex and dangerous. Manuel must use all of his intuition and training to figure out a way to defuse the situation and protect the hostages, all while grappling with his own personal demons.
In the end, "La Muerte Forma Parte de La Vida" sets up a number of intriguing plotlines for Estoy Vivo Season 3, including the ongoing struggle of identity for both Elías and Manuel, as well as the continued exploration of the supernatural and the afterlife. The episode provides a satisfying balance of action and character development, and leaves the audience eager to see what happens next.
