Suffer the Little Children is the twenty-first episode of the fourth season of the popular medical drama series 'ER'. This episode revolves around two storylines.
The first storyline is set in the pediatric unit of the hospital, where Dr. Carter and Dr. Chen witness a series of strange and unexplainable events. The episode starts with Dr. Carter and Dr. Chen checking on a young leukemia patient named Gabriel, who has developed a fever. After running some tests, they realize that Gabriel's condition has worsened, and he needs to be transferred to a quarantine room to avoid infecting the other patients. As they move Gabriel to the quarantine room, they notice that all the other children in the unit have developed fevers as well.
As Dr. Carter and Dr. Chen try to find the source of the outbreak, they witness an eerie and unsettling event. One of the children, a boy named Jeremy who had been in a coma, suddenly wakes up and starts speaking in a different language. When they try to get him to speak in English, he tells them that they are speaking the wrong language and that he needs to talk to someone else. The doctors are baffled and cannot figure out what is happening to the children.
Meanwhile, in the adult section of the hospital, Dr. Greene is dealing with a case of domestic violence. A pregnant woman named Dana arrives at the hospital with a broken arm and bruises all over her body, claiming that her husband had attacked her. Dr. Greene takes her case and tries to convince her to press charges against her husband, but Dana is hesitant as she does not want her children to grow up without their father.
As the episode progresses, both storylines start to intertwine. Dr. Carter and Dr. Chen begin to suspect that the children in the pediatric unit might be possessed and seek the help of a local priest. Meanwhile, Dana's husband arrives at the hospital and threatens her, prompting Dr. Greene to take matters into his own hands.
Overall, Suffer the Little Children is a gripping and suspenseful episode that showcases the show's unique ability to mix medical drama with supernatural elements. It is a must-watch for fans of the show and anyone who enjoys a good mystery.
