Ep 2. The Review

As the second episode of Entourage starts, Vince and his boys are gliding through LA in a flashy sports car, enjoying the spoils of their newfound fame with their success from their latest movie. The group is on their way to a screening of the film, hoping to get a positive review in the trade papers.

It becomes quickly apparent, however, that not all is well behind the scenes. Turtle is preoccupied with a pair of sneakers he's been waiting for, while Drama is all worked up about the film's negative buzz. Both he and Vince become more and more agitated, convinced that their careers are over before they've even begun.

Despite their jitters, the screening goes well overall, with the audience responding favorably to the film. Vince and his entourage are thrilled, believing that their movie careers are finally taking off. However, when they read a review of the movie, they're dismayed to find that while the critic likes Vince's performance, the film itself is described as a "disposable Howard Hawks knockoff."

This negative review sends Drama into a tailspin. He's convinced that his career is over before it's even begun, and begins fretting over how he's going to pay his bills now that he's lost his only source of income. Vince, too, is frustrated, but finds himself more able to brush off the criticism and continue on with his life. Turtle, meanwhile, is still fixated on his sneakers, and spends most of the episode trying desperately to get his hands on a pair.

As the episode moves forward, we see Vinny bumping into his ex-girlfriend, who is now married and pregnant. While he's clearly still attracted to her, Vince doesn't seem to feel threatened by her new life, though it becomes clear to everyone that he has no interest in settling down himself. Meanwhile, the rest of the gang still struggles to come to terms with their own fears.

Overall, "The Review" is an entertaining look at the highs and lows of fame. While Vince seems to be handling it all relatively well, his friends are still struggling with the realities of the entertainment industry and the challenges it poses to their own futures. Despite the negative review, however, there's a sense that the group is ultimately going to be just fine, even if they have to navigate a few bumps along the way.
