Ep 1. What Is Love

Empire season 6 episode 1, titled "What Is Love," begins with the aftermath of the previous season's finale, which left the Lyon family in shambles. Cookie and Lucious are no longer together, and they are both trying to pick up the pieces of their lives. Meanwhile, Andre is on the brink of death, and the rest of the family is struggling to come to terms with his illness.

As the episode starts, Cookie has moved to Los Angeles to start a new life. She has opened up a new bakery and is trying to put her life back together. However, when Lucious shows up at her store, she realizes that she can't keep running away from her problems. Meanwhile, Hakeem is dealing with his own personal problems. He has become addicted to drugs and is trying to hide it from the rest of the family. When Tiana finds out, she tries to help him, but he refuses to listen to her.

As the episode progresses, the family comes together to try and figure out a way to help Andre. They search for a potential cure, and Jamal even writes a song to try and lift his brother's spirits. However, things take a turn for the worse when Andre's condition starts to deteriorate, and the family is forced to come to terms with the fact that they may lose him.

Throughout the episode, the theme of love is prevalent. From Cookie and Lucious' rekindled love to the family's love for Andre, it is clear that love is what holds this family together.
