In season 4 episode 7 of Empire, titled "The Lady Doth Protest," tensions run high as protestors take to the streets in response to the police shooting of a young black boy. Jamal, who is still recovering from his traumatic experience in rehab, decides to use his platform as a musician to speak out against police brutality and injustice. However, when his protest turns violent, Cookie and Lucious must step in to try and control the situation before it spirals out of control.
Meanwhile, Hakeem faces a dilemma when his ex-girlfriend, Tiana, reveals that she is pregnant with his child. Despite his initial fear and uncertainty, Hakeem eventually comes around to the idea of becoming a father. However, when Tiana decides to keep the pregnancy a secret from her manager in order to protect her career, Hakeem finds himself caught in the middle of a difficult situation.
Back at Empire, Becky struggles to get along with her new boss, Giselle, who seems determined to prove that she is more than just a pretty face. However, when Becky uncovers evidence of Giselle's shady dealings with a record label, she must decide whether or not to use the information to her advantage.
As tensions continue to rise both inside and outside of the Empire offices, the Lyon family finds themselves at a crossroads. With old alliances shattered and new enemies emerging, can they band together to weather the storm, or will their differences tear them apart once and for all?
