In the eighth episode of Empire's second season titled My Bad Parts, a lot happens as Lucious Lyon fights for his freedom while Andre continues to be consumed by his illness. As the episode opens, Lucious is seen in prison, where he is trying everything within his power to prove his innocence. He approaches his new lawyer, Thirsty Rawlings, to help him as he seeks to win his bail hearing. Thirsty agrees to take on the case, despite the fact that he is known for taking on shady clients.
Meanwhile, Cookie is continuing to squeeze information out of Laz about his personal life. She feels uncomfortable about Hakeem's newfound relationship with Laz and is determined to break them apart. Hakeem, on the other hand, is enjoying his newfound love and is spending a lot of time with a girl named Laura. Laura has a good voice and Hakeem has decided to feature her on a music video he's shooting.
Things take a turn for the worse when Andre has a breakdown in the office and hits his head. He's rushed to the hospital, where Rhonda is told he may not make it. When he wakes up, he starts to see things and believes that his guard angel is trying to show him something. He tells Rhonda about his visions, but she doesn't think they are real and blames it on his illness.
After Lucious' lawyer Thirsty wins him bail, Lucious is released from prison. He goes straight to the studio to start working on a new song, and Cookie joins him. The two have deep conversations, and they come to a realization that they are better together as business partners than as a romantic couple. As they are working on the song, Lucious' mother Leah comes in and interrupts them. She tells Lucious that she's been out of her mind since he got locked up, but that she has found peace in music. She then starts to sing beautifully, and Lucious records her.
Andre, who is still having visions, comes into the office and tells everyone that he thinks there's going to be a problem with Freda. He believes that she's going to be the one who will kill Lucious. No one believes him except for Hakeem, who is worried about his father's safety. The two of them decide to take matters into their own hands and confront Freda. They inform her that they know she'll do whatever it takes to become successful and that they're watching her closely.
In the end, Lucious has a big performance at Leviticus Vegas, and Andre is not in attendance. Lucious' mother, Leah, and Cookie are there to support him, and the two of them perform a duet. Hakeem is also there with Laura, watching the performance. Meanwhile, Rhonda has found out some information about Andre's illness that might be a game-changer. The episode ends on a cliffhanger, and viewers are left wondering what will happen next.
