Sherlock and Joan investigate the murder of a man who was found dismembered in multiple plastic bags in a dumpster. The victim's identity is initially unknown, but through their investigation, they discover that he was a cybersecurity expert who was working on a project for the Department of Defense. As they delve deeper into the victim's work and personal life, they encounter numerous individuals who had reason to want him dead, including a former colleague who may have been involved in a data breach, a rival hacker who was jealous of his success, and a mysterious woman who seems to have been involved in a romantic relationship with him. Meanwhile, Captain Gregson deals with family issues when his daughter comes to stay with him and Joan, and Sherlock discovers a new talent for woodworking. The episode features a number of twists and turns, as the detectives race against time to find the killer before they can strike again. Along the way, they uncover a web of lies and deceit that leads them closer to the truth, but also puts them in danger as they face off against a cunning and ruthless killer. With its mix of suspenseful drama, thrilling action, and complex characters, "Bits and Pieces" is a must-see episode for fans of Elementary.
