El Clon is a Spanish-language telenovela, originally aired in 2010, that is an adaptation of the Brazilian telenovela of the same name. The show follows the story of a young woman named Jade, who is torn between fulfilling her family's expectations and finding love with a handsome young man named Lucas, who happens to be a clone of a wealthy businessman named Diego.
In episode 2, we see Jade struggling to come to terms with the news that her father has arranged for her to marry a man named Said, who is much older than her and whom she does not love. Jade's mother, who is also deeply unhappy with the arranged marriage, tries to convince her husband to let Jade marry for love instead. This leads to a scuffle and Lucas is forced to flee the scene and take refuge in a nearby mosque.
Back at Jade's house, Said takes his leave but not before leaving a gift for Jade - a beautiful necklace. Jade is touched by the gesture but still feels conflicted about the marriage. She confides in her mother, who suggests that she give the necklace back to Said and tell him that she cannot accept it until she is sure about the marriage. Jade agrees and goes to meet Said at his house, where they have a conversation about their future together.
In the mosque, Lucas takes some time to reflect on the events of the day and ends up falling asleep. He is woken up by a group of men who mistake him for someone else and begin to beat him up. Lucas manages to escape and runs into a young girl named Latifa, who takes him to her uncle's house to recover. Latifa's uncle, Ali, is a kind and hospitable man who welcomes Lucas into his home and offers him food and shelter.
Back at Jade's house, her father confronts her about her reluctance to marry Said and tells her that she must do as she is told. Jade's mother tries to intervene but is silenced by her husband. Jade is left feeling trapped and alone.
In the final scenes of the episode, we see Lucas settling into life with Ali and his family, who teach him about Moroccan culture and introduce him to the local community. Meanwhile, Jade puts on the necklace that Said gave her and looks at herself in the mirror, deep in thought about her future. The episode ends with both Lucas and Jade in places of uncertainty, with their futures hanging in the balance.
Overall, episode 2 of El Clon sets up the conflicts that will drive the rest of the season - Jade's struggle between familial duty and personal desire, and Lucas' journey of self-discovery in a new and unfamiliar place.
