Ep 3. Do Fish Drink Water?
- 11 min
Luna and her little brother Júpiter continue their exploration of the natural world in the latest episode of Earth To Luna, titled "Do Fish Drink Water?" This time, the curious siblings are focused on the fascinating underwater realm and the creatures that inhabit it.
The episode kicks off with Luna and Júpiter excitedly leaving their house with their trusty dog, Clímax. They are on their way to meet their friend, the marine biologist Marcos, who is going to show them around a local aquarium. As they walk, Luna chats excitedly about how much she loves fish and all the cool things she knows about them. Júpiter, on the other hand, seems a little freaked out by the idea of being surrounded by water.
Once they arrive at the aquarium, Marcos leads the kids to the first exhibit, a tank full of brightly colored fish. Luna gasps in amazement as she sees all the different shapes and sizes of the fish, but then she turns to Marcos with a serious question: "Do fish drink water?"
Marcos chuckles at Luna's question but then explains that yes, fish do drink water, but not in the same way that humans do. Fish get their water from the environment around them, such as in the form of seawater or freshwater in their habitat. Marcos points out that many fish have specialized organs called kidneys that help them filter out excess salt from their bodies so that they can stay hydrated.
Luna and Júpiter seem fascinated by this information as they move on to the next exhibit, which features a giant octopus. Luna asks Marcos if octopuses drink water too, but Marcos explains that octopuses actually get their water from the food they eat. Luna squeals with delight as Marcos demonstrates how the octopus can change the color and texture of its skin to blend in with its surroundings.
The trio moves on to the next exhibit, which features a variety of different sea creatures, including starfish, sea urchins, and crabs. Luna and Júpiter are amazed by all the different textures and colors of the creatures, but they still have questions about how they survive underwater. Marcos explains that many of these creatures have adapted to their environments in interesting ways, such as by growing spikes or shells to protect themselves from predators.
Finally, Luna and Júpiter arrive at the exhibit they have been most excited for - the shark tank. As they watch the graceful creatures swim by, Luna turns to Marcos with yet another question: "Do sharks drink water?"
Marcos laughs at Luna's question but then explains that while sharks don't actually drink water, they do have a unique way of staying hydrated. Sharks have a special organ called a rectal gland that helps them filter out excess salt from their bodies. This allows them to survive in saltwater environments without getting dehydrated.
As Luna and Júpiter say goodbye to Marcos and Clímax, they are full of excitement and wonder about the amazing creatures they've just seen. Luna even declares that she wants to be a marine biologist when she grows up, so that she can keep exploring the underwater world.
Overall, this episode of Earth To Luna is a fun and educational exploration of the amazing creatures that live in our oceans. Luna's boundless curiosity and infectious excitement make for an engaging and entertaining journey, and viewers young and old will enjoy learning more about how fish and other sea creatures survive underwater.
