April is a troubled teen that seems to get into trouble often. In Dusbin Baby, April literally began her life in a dustbin after being abandoned by her mother behind a pizza parlour. A scuffle with her foster mother causes April decide to leave her home in search of her birth mother.

April's journey isn't easy. Filled with painful memories of social workers, special schools and children's homes, April encounters a difficult journey of self-discovery. Along the way she does realize she has friends that love her and give her strength to see her mission through.
