Having been a beloved classic animated series in the late 1980s, “Ducktales” has undergone a major overhaul for a new, modern era. Now, after two entertaining seasons, the third season sets to delve deeper into the colourful characters that made it such a hit. As the season progresses, the audience learns more about the characters' pasts and watch as each character battles their own demons. Season 3, episode 4 is no exception, introducing us to a new adventure in the episode titled “The Good Muddahs.”

In this episode of Ducktales, the character of Mrs. Beakley takes centre stage. She was once the highly trained, sharp-as-a-tack nanny and housekeeper of Scrooge McDuck, but now she’s a member of the thrilling team of adventurers. Already established as one of the fan-favorite characters of the show, this episode allows the audience to gain a more in-depth look into Mrs. Beakley's past.

The episode starts with Mrs. Beakley's old spy friends, the fearsome "Good Muddahs," surfacing in their old hideout to ask for a favour. They need Beakley’s help in finding a long missing artifact that they have reason to believe is still hidden there. However, with their outdated techniques, they are not able to find it themselves. Thus, they recruit the help of Mrs. Beakley and the Duck family to assist in the search.

The gang excitedly agrees to assist in the hunt for the ancient relic, but upon arriving at the abandoned spy headquarters, they find that it has been overrun by a group of militarized children. The kids had taken over the headquarters and transformed it into a fortress of sorts. They refuse to be evicted without a fight, and the Duck family soon realizes that there is more to the situation than meets the eye.

Mrs. Beakley recognizes the leader of the children - a young girl named Longboard Taquitos. Longboard is a spitting image of Mrs. Beakley from her youthful days, which is when the audience first learns that Mrs. Beakley was once a highly capable spy and member of the Good Muddahs herself. Upon reconnecting with her old friend, Bentina Beakley, and meeting the new group of young spies, the storyline begins to unravel.

As the story progresses, we learn that The Good Muddahs' spy tactics are slightly outdated, whereas the children have a youthful approach to their spy-like activities. But now, with Longboard and her crew leading the charge, their inquisitive stealth and mischievous nature make them an ideal team to help find the relic. Beakley and her team teach the children some tried and tested skills that come in handy as they traverse through the various tunnels, secret passages, and booby traps. It soon becomes evident to the audience that the girl’s deep attachment to Mrs. Beakley is not just because she admires her skills, but because she is her daughter.

An interesting twist on this episode is the surprise reveal of the relationship between Beakley and Longboard. It is revealed that a careless mistake on a mission had left Beakley to believe her daughter dead and she has been haunted by it ever since. However, in a twist of fate, Longboard was found by the Good Muddahs and was trained in the world of espionage. Making a decision that split the family apart, Longboard chose to pursue the life of a spy instead of coming home to her mother.

This episode's plot shows various instances of emotional bonding between the characters and gives the audience a deeper understanding of the challenges that each has faced. In a touching moment, Longboard admits that the family she found at the spy headquarters is not the one she wanted, and that she misses her mother every day. The audience sees the pain and longing of Mrs. Beakley, who thought she had lost her child forever. However, through this adventure, we watch as they share moments of you-can’t-make-this-up action and strife that serves the mission.

The episode ends with a satisfying conclusion, with each character overcoming their emotional hurdles and saving the day. This episode is one of the most touching and exciting yet, giving us insight into Mrs. Beakley's eventful background. Additionally, it is a refreshing departure from the usual treasure hunts and action sequences of the Ducktales universe, giving fans a more heartwarming episode. “The Good Muddahs” is undoubtedly one of the most memorable and emotional episodes of Ducktales Season 3.
