Stoick the Vast, the Chief of Berk, has been having nightmares about Dragons ever since he allowed them to move into his town. He's been reluctant to trust them, but that's all about to change. In the fifth episode of the first season of DreamWorks Dragons, titled "In Dragons We Trust," Hiccup and his friends try to convince Stoick that the dragons can be trusted.
The episode begins with the Berk citizens continuing to be hesitant and distrusting towards the Dragons, as they see them as dangerous creatures. Stoick is still haunted by his nightmares, and he tells Hiccup that he can't let his guard down around them. Hiccup understands his father's concern, but he also knows that they need to find a way to work together with the Dragons.
Meanwhile, the Vikings of Berk are in need of wood to continue building new homes and expand their village. But they've hunted down all the trees near Berk so they will have to travel to an island rich in timber. Stoick assigns Hiccup to lead a group of Vikings to the island, to gather the wood they need.
But when they arrive on the island, they discover that the trees are being protected by the Dragons. They come face-to-face with a Whispering Death, a massive dragon that is fiercely guarding the island. Hiccup manages to escape, but not before losing half of their supplies.
Back in Berk, Stoick is furious with Hiccup for failing the mission, but Hiccup tries to explain that the Dragons are not just wild beasts, and they have feelings and can be reasoned with. After much discussion, Hiccup convinces Stoick to trust the Dragons and to work with them instead of against them.
With a plan in mind, Hiccup and his friends take a risk and sneak back onto the island in the middle of the night. They come face-to-face with the Whispering Death again, but this time they try a different approach. They make noise to wake up the dragon, and when it appears, they throw fish at it and run in the opposite direction. The Whispering Death chases after the fish, giving Hiccup and his friends time to chop down the trees they need.
The episode ends with Stoick and the citizens of Berk accepting that the Dragons can be trusted and that they can work together to build a better community. Hiccup's persistence and his willingness to believe in the best in others lead to a significant change in the relationship between Berk and the Dragons.
Overall, "In Dragons We Trust" is a crucial episode in the first season of DreamWorks Dragons. It highlights the distrust and fear that come with unknown creatures, but also shows how one person's open-mindedness and belief in the goodness of others can lead to incredible progress. With its exciting dragon battles and themes of trust and acceptance, this episode is sure to delight fans of all ages.
