Cast Out, Part I is the nineteenth episode of the third season of Dragons: Riders of Berk. The episode centers around the dragon named Garff, who was exiled from Dragon's Edge after getting into a fight with Snotlout's dragon, Hookfang. As a result, Garff is forced to find a new home on the island and ends up stumbling upon a mysterious dragon graveyard.
Meanwhile, Hiccup and his friends are dealing with their own problems as they try to fend off a group of wild dragons that have been attacking the village. As they analyze the situation, they realize that the wild dragons are after a specific type of herb that grows on the island. With this knowledge, Hiccup and his friends set out to find the herb before the wild dragons can get to it.
As Garff explores the dragon graveyard, he comes across a strange dragon that is unlike any he has ever seen before. The dragon is covered in armor, which makes it nearly invincible. Garff initially tries to fight the dragon, but quickly realizes that he is no match for it. Instead, Garff decides to team up with the dragon to try and find a way off the island and back to Dragon's Edge.
Meanwhile, Hiccup and his friends find the herb that the wild dragons are after, but also discover that it has magical properties. The herb is capable of turning regular, non-fire breathing dragons into fully-fledged fire breathers. With this knowledge, Hiccup sets out to try and capture one of the wild dragons to study its behavior and possibly find a way to train it to become a fire breather.
As the episode comes to a close, Garff and the armored dragon make a breakthrough in their quest to leave the island, while Hiccup and his friends face a new danger as they try to capture one of the wild dragons. Cast Out, Part I sets up an action-packed finale to season three of the hit animated series.
