Two new adventures await young viewers in Dragon Tales season 1 episode 13, titled "Not a Separated at Birth / Kite for Quetzal". In the first half, "Not a Separated at Birth", the dragons find a dragon egg on the playground. They are initially overjoyed at the prospect of having another friend to play with. However, as they realize that the egg might belong to Quetzal, they fear that he might be their long-lost sibling. The dragons seek Quetzal's help in solving their dilemma, but he reveals to them that the egg is actually from his beloved pet lizard named Iggy. The dragons are disappointed at first, but they quickly get over their dismay as Iggy hatches and becomes their newest playmate.
The second half of the episode, "Kite for Quetzal", sees the dragons preparing a special surprise for their wise mentor's upcoming birthday. They decide to surprise Quetzal with a colorful handmade kite to celebrate the occasion. However, they soon encounter trouble when they fail to follow the instructions properly and the kite becomes a tangled mess. Cassie comes up with a brilliant idea to untangle the kite by flying it on a windy day, and the dragons set out to find the perfect spot for kite-flying. Their adventure takes them to a windy beach, a butterfly garden, and a forest, but they can't seem to find the right conditions for the kite to soar. In the end, they realize that the windy conditions they need can be created by flapping their wings together. With the wind at their backs, the dragons finally launch the kite into the sky, and Quetzal is thrilled with their thoughtful present.
