Dr. Portnoy is the story of a quirky, mad scientist. Dr. Portnoy, the titular character, begins the show by working in Astronomy Department of Research at Halley University. After a science experiment goes painfully wrong, Portnoy finds himself with mysterious powers beyond his control.
Soon after the accident, he is fired from his job and must be creative in finding ways to make ends meet. He decides to go on the road and form a one-man show in which he showcases his talents for money. Originally embarrassed, Dr. Portnoy comes to love his new life as a performer and the opportunities it presents.
