Dr. K's Exotic Animal ER is a popular television show that chronicles the work of Dr. Susan Kelleher and her dedicated team of veterinary professionals. The show follows Dr. K and her team as they treat an array of diverse and often exotic creatures, from reptiles and birds to marsupials and primates.
In season 7, episode 5, entitled "Cocka-a-tude!", Dr. K and her team are faced with some tough cases. First up is a feisty rooster named Elvis, who is suffering from a severe case of bumblefoot. Dr. K must perform surgery to remove the infected tissue and work to prevent any further damage. During the tense operation, Elvis proves to be more than a handful, kicking and squawking at the team.
Next, Dr. K turns her attention to a family of marmosets who are experiencing a range of health issues. One of the marmosets, Peanut, is displaying signs of respiratory distress, and Dr. K must act quickly to save his life. She also examines the other marmosets in the group, including a mother who is exhibiting signs of lactation failure, which could have serious consequences for her babies.
As if these cases weren't enough, Dr. K also treats a sulcata tortoise named Norman, who has a painful and infected abscess on his leg. Surgery is required to remove the infected tissue, but the team must be careful to avoid damaging the tortoise's fragile shell in the process.
Throughout the episode, viewers get a glimpse into the personal lives of the veterinary team, as they juggle the demands of work with their family and personal responsibilities. Dr. K's daughter, Jamie, also makes an appearance, helping the team care for the marmosets and lending a hand in surgery.
As always, Dr. K and her team approach each case with compassion, expertise, and a deep love for the animals they care for. "Cocka-a-tude!" showcases the challenges and rewards of working with exotic creatures, and is a must-watch for animal lovers everywhere.
