Dr. Jeff Rocky Mountain Vet is a show that follows Dr. Jeff Young, a veterinarian who runs one of the busiest animal clinics in America. In season 6 episode 1, named "At Home with Wolves," we follow Dr. Jeff as he travels to a remote part of the Rocky Mountains to help a pack of wolves.
The episode begins with Dr. Jeff and his team discussing their plans to assist with a pack of wolves that are in danger. The wolves are living in a remote area where their food supply has become scarce due to harsh weather conditions. Dr. Jeff and his team plan to provide them with food and perform health checks to ensure their well-being.
Once they arrive at the location, Dr. Jeff and his team are greeted by the pack of wolves who are shy at first but eventually warm up to them. The team sets up a feeding station for the wolves while Dr. Jeff performs health checks. He examines their teeth, listens to their heart and lung sounds and checks for any injuries.
During the examination, Dr. Jeff comes across a wolf who has an infected wound. He administers antibiotics and bandages the wound. The team also notices that some of the wolves are shedding excessively, which could be a sign of a skin condition. Dr. Jeff takes a skin sample to test for any underlying issues.
After the health checks are complete, Dr. Jeff and his team make their way back to the clinic to perform further tests on the skin sample. They discover that the wolves have a common skin condition that is treatable with medication. The team returns to the wolves to administer the medication and recheck their health.
While the team is at the feeding station, they notice a wolf that is not eating and seems to be in distress. Dr. Jeff quickly observes that the wolf has ingested a foreign object, which could be fatal. He and his team work to carefully remove the object and provide supportive care to the wolf.
In addition to helping the wolves, Dr. Jeff also assists a local couple who have a rescue group for unwanted animals. They bring in a rooster that was found injured on the side of the road. Dr. Jeff performs surgery to remove an abscess and provides medication to help with his recovery.
The episode concludes with Dr. Jeff and his team returning to the pack of wolves to see how they are progressing. They discover that the wolves are healthier and have gained weight due to their efforts. Dr. Jeff and his team are happy to see that their hard work has resulted in the improvement of the wolves' health and well-being.
In "At Home with Wolves," Dr. Jeff showcases his expertise in animal healthcare, while also highlighting the importance of conservation efforts to protect wildlife in remote areas of the Rocky Mountains. The episode is a compelling look at the challenges of working with wild animals and the impact that veterinary care can have on their lives.
