Ep 5. Into the Jungle

Dr. Jeff: Rocky Mountain Vet season 4 episode 5, titled "Into the Jungle," follows the story of Dr. Jeff Young, a veterinarian based in Denver, Colorado, who travels across the world to the jungles of Peru to provide veterinary services to animals in need. Following the rescue of the monkey, the team travels deeper into the jungle, where they come across the local wildlife sanctuary. The sanctuary is home to many animals who have been rescued from the illegal wildlife trafficking trade, such as monkeys, parrots, and even a puma. Dr. Jeff works with the veterinarians in the sanctuary to examine the animals and provide medical treatments. They even conduct surgery on a parrot to remove an ingested plastic bottle cap, a common problem for birds in the area.

In addition to treating animals in the sanctuary, Dr. Jeff and his team also travel to some of the more remote areas of the jungle to examine the animals in their natural habitats. They take a small boat to a community of river otters living along a riverbank and perform medical exams on the animals. Dr. Jeff even gets his hands dirty by extracting a few teeth from one of the otters, which had been causing the animal severe pain.

Throughout the episode, Dr. Jeff faces several challenges while providing veterinary care in the rainforest. Not only do many of the animals have unique ailments that he has never encountered, but also the rough terrain and harsh weather conditions pose a severe threat to both the animals and the veterinarians. However, despite these obstacles, Dr. Jeff and his team remain focused on their goal of saving lives and protecting the local wildlife.

In "Into the Jungle," viewers not only get a glimpse into the world of animal welfare, but they also see firsthand the value of teamwork and determination in overcoming difficult obstacles. The episode showcases Dr. Jeff's devotion to animals and his willingness to go to great lengths to provide them with the necessary care and treatment.
