Ep 2. Doug's New School
- September 14, 1996
Doug Funnie is starting a new school, and he's not quite sure what to expect. He's leaving behind his old school and all his friends, which is a difficult transition for anyone to make. Luckily, he's got his best friend Skeeter by his side to help him navigate this new territory.
As they walk through the halls on their first day, they notice that everything seems different. The lockers are bigger, the kids are older, and the teachers are stricter. Doug starts to wonder if he's made a mistake in coming to this new school.
His first class is gym, and he's a little intimidated by the coach. Coach Spitz is a gruff, no-nonsense kind of guy who doesn't seem to have any patience for kids who aren't good at sports. Doug is nervous about having to do well in this class, since he's never been particularly athletic.
In his next class, science, Doug is paired up with a girl named Fentruck, who is incredibly smart but also a bit strange. She asks Doug a lot of questions about his old school and his life, and he starts to feel a little uncomfortable. He's not used to being the center of attention like this.
At lunchtime, Doug and Skeeter head to the cafeteria. They're excited to see what kind of food options they have, but they quickly realize that the food is not very good. They try to find a table to sit at, but all the tables seem to be taken. Eventually, they end up sitting with a group of kids who don't really seem to be their type.
Throughout the day, Doug is constantly comparing this new school to his old one. He starts to feel like he doesn't belong here and that he should try to go back to his old school. But he also knows that he needs to give this new school a chance if he wants to make it work.
In the final class of the day, math, Doug feels like he's finally getting the hang of things. His teacher, Mrs. Wingo, is nice and patient and seems to understand that not everyone is good at math. Doug starts to feel a little more confident, and he realizes that he might be able to make it at this new school after all.
As the day comes to a close, Doug reflects on everything that's happened. He knows that he's still nervous about this new school, but he's also excited to see what the future holds. He's made some new friends, struggled a little bit, and learned some valuable lessons. Overall, he's not quite sure what to expect from this new school, but he knows that he's ready to give it his best shot.
