Doug Funnie is an 11-year-old boy, living in the fictional town of Bluffington. In season 3 episode 13, the series follows two separate storylines: Doug's Great Beet War and Doug's Magic Act.

In Doug's Great Beet War, Doug and his friends are disappointed when they discover that their school cafeteria is serving beets for lunch every day. None of them likes the taste of beets and they start to complain to their cafeteria lady. However, their complaints fall on deaf ears as she keeps serving beets every day. Doug and his friends decide to take matters into their own hands and start a competition to find the most creative and delicious way to prepare beets. They create different recipes for their beet dishes, such as beet cake, beet pudding, and beet smoothies.

The competition heats up when Roger Klotz, Doug's arch-nemesis, enters the competition with his own beet recipe and starts trash-talking Doug and his friends. The day of the competition arrives, and Doug and his friends present their beet recipes to their classmates and the cafeteria lady. To their surprise, Roger's recipe turns out to be a disaster, giving Doug and his friends a chance to win the competition. In the end, they come up with a delicious beet dish that everyone enjoys, and the cafeteria lady agrees to add it to the cafeteria menu.

In the second storyline, Doug's Magic Act, Doug is determined to impress his classmates with his magic trick at the school talent show. He enlists the help of his best friend Skeeter, who is a big fan of magic, to help him perfect his act. Skeeter provides him with a magic kit and gives him tips on how to perform various magic tricks.

However, things don't go as planned for Doug when he performs his act in front of his classmates. He fumbles with his magic tricks, and nothing seems to work as it did during his rehearsals. The audience starts to laugh at him, and Roger Klotz, who is also participating in the talent show, makes fun of his performance. Doug feels embarrassed and disappointed at his failure.

Just when Doug is about to give up on his dream of becoming a magician, Skeeter shows up and encourages him to try one more trick. Doug decides to give it one more shot and performs a disappearing trick that he had never tried before. The trick works perfectly, leaving the audience in awe, and Doug is declared the winner of the talent show. Doug and Skeeter leave the school triumphant, excited to practice more magic tricks and improve their act.

Overall, Doug season 3 episode 13 is an entertaining and heart-warming episode that teaches viewers about the importance of perseverance and creativity. Doug and his friends show that by working together and with a bit of creativity and imagination, they can turn a dull and unappetizing food item like beets into a delicious dish. In the second storyline, Doug learns that failure is not the end of the road and that with a bit of encouragement and determination, he can overcome his fear of failure and perform his magic act successfully.
