In Doomsday Preppers season 2 episode 6, titled "You've Got Chaos," viewers are introduced to a variety of individuals who have dedicated their lives to preparing for a world-ending disaster. From a retired police officer to a family of six living off the grid in Oregon, each prepper has their own unique strategy for surviving when the end of the world arrives.
The episode opens with retired police officer Buck and his wife Joan, who live in the heart of New York City. Buck believes that his extensive survival training and knowledge of the city's infrastructure make him well-prepared for any disaster that may come his way, but Joan worries that their urban setting could pose serious challenges in the event of a catastrophe. Together, they have stockpiled food, water, and medical supplies, and have even installed a rainwater collection system on their apartment's terrace. Despite Joan's concerns, Buck is convinced that their preparations will give them an edge when disaster strikes.
Next, viewers are introduced to a group of preppers in Oregon who call themselves the "Off Grid Family." Comprised of parents Klint and Eileen, their four children, and several farm animals, the Off Grid Family lives without running water or electricity in a secluded forest. With the help of solar panels and wood-burning stoves, the family is almost entirely self-sufficient. Although Klint and Eileen have faced criticism from family members who worry about the safety of their lifestyle, they are adamant that their preparations will pay off in the long run.
The third prepper viewers meet in this episode is Scott, a former firefighter who lives in the remote wilderness of Montana. Scott is a naturalist who believes that the key to survival is learning to live off the land. He has built a makeshift cabin using only natural materials and spends his days hunting and gathering food. Scott's minimalist lifestyle has also inspired him to spend less time worrying about material possessions and more time enjoying the natural beauty around him.
Finally, the episode concludes with amateur radio operator Pat, who lives in rural Montana with his wife and son. Pat has dedicated his life to learning and teaching survival skills, and has even created a ham radio network that allows him to communicate with other preppers across the country. Although experts have warned that a catastrophic solar event known as a CME could knock out power grids across the globe, Pat remains confident that his preparations will allow him to weather any storm.
Throughout "You've Got Chaos," viewers are treated to a fascinating look at the world of doomsday prepping, and the various strategies people employ to prepare for the worst. From stockpiling food and water to living off the grid and learning survival skills, each prepper featured in this episode believes that their preparations will give them an edge when the end of the world arrives. Despite the differences in their lifestyles and beliefs, all of the preppers are united in their conviction that the future is uncertain, and that it pays to be prepared for anything.
