Dolmen is a French television series which first aired in 2005, starring popular French actress Ingrid Chauvin. The series, which was produced by the French channel TF1, tells the story of a young woman named Marie Kermeur (played by Ingrid Chauvin), who has left her hometown of Ty Kern, a small island off the coast of Brittany, to pursue a career as a successful police officer in Paris. However, when Marie hears that her father has died, she is forced to return to Ty Kern for the first time in over a decade.
Upon returning to her hometown, Marie discovers that her father's death was not an accident, but rather a murder, and she sets out to uncover the truth behind his death. In her quest for answers, Marie must confront her own painful past, which includes the traumatic loss of her mother when she was a child, as well as her complicated relationships with her father and her childhood best friend, Gwen.
As she investigates her father's murder, Marie is drawn back into the complex, interconnected lives of the people of Ty Kern, including her childhood crush, Roland (played by Bruno Madinier), whose wife has recently disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Other notable characters include the wealthy, powerful businessman Erwan Le Roy (played by Bernard Le Coq) and his troubled daughter, Clarisse (played by Florence Pernel).
Throughout the series, viewers are introduced to the intricate history and customs of Brittany, a region with a rich cultural heritage and its own unique language. The series also highlights the beauty of the region, with its rugged coastline, traditional fishing villages, and mystical landmarks such as the titular dolmen, a megalithic stone structure that figures prominently in the story.
As the mystery surrounding her father's death deepens, Marie must navigate a web of secrets, betrayals, and dark conspiracies in this atmospheric, character-driven drama. With its blend of romance, suspense, and supernatural elements, Dolmen captivated audiences during its initial run and has since become a beloved cult classic in France.
