Dollface is a Hulu original series that premiered in 2019 and continued to air through 2022. The series is a refreshing take on the classic coming-of-age comedy genre and depicts the story of a young woman named Jules, played by Kat Dennings, who learns the meaning of female friendship and the importance of self-discovery after experiencing a heart-wrenching breakup with her long-term boyfriend.

Jules, who has been dating her boyfriend Jeremy for several years, finds herself in a state of disarray when he abruptly breaks up with her. Having devoted nearly all of her time to her relationship, Jules finds that she has lost touch with her old friends and is struggling to navigate her newfound single life. She must now navigate life without the comfort that her relationship brought her and find her own identity.

As Jules embarks on her journey of self-discovery, she begins to reconnect with her old friends, including her childhood best friend Madison, played by Brenda Song, who has since become a successful businesswoman. Madison is everything that Jules is not: confident, self-assured, and independent. Despite their differences, the two rekindle their friendship and Jules finds support and encouragement as she tries to figure out her next move in life.

Shay Mitchell plays Stella, another one of Jules' friends who is a successful influencer. Stella is a free spirit who lives life to the fullest and is always down for a good time. Jules initially feels intimidated by Stella's Instagram-perfect life, but she learns that appearances can be deceiving and that everyone has their own struggles and insecurities.

The show explores themes of friendship, identity, self-love, and the struggles that come with transitioning into adulthood. It tackles these issues in a relatable and humorous way, making it a show that audiences of all ages can enjoy. Dollface is a refreshing take on the classic coming-of-age comedy genre, and it does a great job at portraying the challenges that young women face as they navigate adulthood.

One of the standout aspects of the show is the chemistry between the cast members. Kat Dennings, Brenda Song, and Shay Mitchell have excellent on-screen chemistry, and their portrayals of their characters feel genuine and heartfelt. The supporting cast is also great, with notable performances from Esther Povitsky, who plays Jules' quirky and charming coworker Izzy, and Beth Grant, who plays Jules' eccentric therapist.

In addition to its outstanding cast, Dollface also features unique and creative storytelling techniques. The show employs dream sequences, flashbacks, and animated sequences to convey Jules' thought process and inner turmoil. This enhances the show's humor and adds to its overall charm.

Overall, Dollface is an excellent series that is both relatable and funny. It tackles important issues while still maintaining a lighthearted tone, and it does a great job at portraying the ups and downs of female friendship. The show's cast is excellent, and the creative storytelling techniques make it a must-watch for fans of comedy and drama alike.
