In Dog Whisperer season 3 episode 12, titled "Calvin, Rudy and Milo," viewers are introduced to three different families, each facing their own unique set of challenges with their furry companions.
In the first segment, Cesar Millan works with a family who is struggling to control their overly anxious and aggressive pit bull, Calvin. The dog's behavior has caused tension within the family and made it difficult for them to enjoy their home life. Cesar observes the dog's behavior and determines that Calvin's aggression stems from a lack of exercise and mental stimulation. Using his signature positive reinforcement training techniques, Cesar helps the family create a daily routine that includes plenty of exercise and mental stimulation for Calvin, in addition to consistent discipline.
Next, Cesar meets with another family dealing with their own set of issues. Their dog, Rudy, is an energetic Jack Russell Terrier who refuses to listen to commands and often engages in destructive behavior. Cesar quickly realizes that Rudy's behavior is a result of the family's inconsistent discipline, which has resulted in confusion for the dog. Cesar works with the family to create a set of clear rules and boundaries for Rudy, and shows them how to use positive reinforcement to reward good behavior.
Finally, Cesar meets Milo, a Great Dane who has become incredibly possessive of his owner and aggressive towards anyone who comes near him. The owner is afraid of the dog, and feels trapped in her own home. Cesar observes Milo's behavior and determines that the dog is acting out of fear and a desire to protect his owner. Cesar works with the owner to gain her trust, and then guides Milo through a series of exercises and challenges designed to build the dog's confidence.
As always, Cesar's methods prove effective in helping each family overcome their challenges with their dogs. By the end of the episode, viewers are left feeling empowered with new ideas and techniques to improve their relationships with their own furry friends.
