As the twelfth season of the iconic sci-fi series Doctor Who draws to a close, fans were treated to a heart-stopping penultimate episode titled 'Ascension of the Cybermen.' Continuing on from last week's intense cliffhanger, the Doctor and her companions are left stranded on a barren and desolate planet, only to discover that they are not alone.
In yet another twist of fate, the team comes face-to-face with a group of refugees from a nearby human colony who are desperately in need of help. But things are not as they seem when a dangerous race of Cybermen begins to close in on them, hell-bent on assimilating every living organism in their path.
It soon becomes clear to the Doctor and her companions that they are not at all prepared for the imminent threat of the Cybermen, who have evolved and adapted to become even more deadly than ever before. With time running out, the team is forced to split up in a bid to try and save as many people as possible.
The Doctor and her new ally, Ko Sharmus, find themselves on a deadly spaceship hurtling rapidly towards the distant planet of Gallifrey, the Doctor's home planet. Along the way, they face numerous obstacles and must use all of their wit and tactical skills to try and stay one step ahead of the Cybermen.
Meanwhile, Yaz, Ryan, and Graham team up with the remaining refugees in a bid to find a way off the planet and out of reach of the Cybermen. But as danger looms ever closer, tensions flare and alliances are tested, leaving the group on the brink of collapsing altogether.
At its core, the 'Ascension of the Cybermen' is a tense and thrilling adventure that keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. As with any good penultimate episode, there are plenty of surprises and twists along the way, some of which are sure to leave viewers reeling. The writing is solid, and the acting is top-notch, with Jodie Whittaker delivering another standout performance as the enigmatic and fearless Thirteenth Doctor.
All in all, 'Ascension of the Cybermen' definitely lives up to the hype and expectations set by Doctor Who fans around the world. With the stage now set for the highly anticipated season finale, the only question that remains is, can the Doctor and her team save the universe once again, or have they finally met their match in the form of the Cybermen?
