In Doctor Stranger season 1 episode 2, titled "Episode 2," we continue to follow the story of our protagonist, Dr. Park Hoon, a skilled surgeon who was sent to North Korea as a child and is now trying to navigate his way through a new life in South Korea.
After his impressive display of surgical skills in the previous episode, Dr. Park Hoon is quickly becoming a valuable asset to the hospital staff. However, his mysterious past and lack of credentials continue to raise suspicions among his peers, particularly his fellow resident, Dr. Oh Soo Hyun.
Meanwhile, we are introduced to a new character, a North Korean spy posing as a diplomat, who is investigating a group of North Korean defectors seeking asylum in South Korea. Dr. Park Hoon becomes involved in this situation when he recognizes one of the defectors as his childhood friend, Song Jae Hee.
Against hospital policy, Dr. Park Hoon helps Jae Hee evade the authorities and brings her to his apartment. It is revealed that Jae Hee is not only a defector but also Park Hoon's first love whom he thought had died years ago. The two rekindle their relationship, but their happiness is short-lived as Jae Hee is soon discovered and taken into custody.
Meanwhile, Dr. Park Hoon is called upon to assist with a major surgery on a VIP patient, which could make or break his reputation at the hospital. With all eyes on him, Dr. Park Hoon must overcome his nerves and use his exceptional surgical expertise to save the patient's life.
As the episode comes to a close, we see Dr. Park Hoon struggling to come to terms with the realization that his beloved Jae Hee is alive and in South Korea. He must decide whether to risk everything to help her or continue to prioritize his career and life in his new home.
