In "Doc Martin" season 7 episode 6, titled "Other People's Children," Martin finds himself having to put his medical duties on hold once again when he is called upon to help Louisa's former classmate, Danny Steel, who has returned to Portwenn after many years.
Initially, Danny's visit seems innocent enough - he is looking to reconnect with old friends and maybe even rebuild his relationship with Louisa, whom he had a crush on when they were in school together. But when Martin gets involved in the case, he discovers that there is much more going on beneath the surface.
Danny is now a successful businessman with a young daughter, but he seems to be struggling with some serious personal issues. He is clearly not being forthcoming with Martin about his health concerns, and the doctor is at a loss as to how to help him.
Meanwhile, Louisa is dealing with her own problems as she tries to adjust to life back in Portwenn. She has taken a job as a school teacher and is finding it difficult to balance her work with her new role as a mother.
As the episode progresses, Martin and Louisa both find themselves drawn into Danny's problems, and they must work together to try to help him before it is too late.
The episode is filled with the usual "Doc Martin" blend of humor, drama, and heartwarming moments. Fans of the show will be delighted to see the return of several familiar characters, including Bert and Al Large, who provide much of the comic relief throughout the episode.
Overall, "Other People's Children" is a satisfying and entertaining installment in the beloved series. Martin continues to be a compelling and complex character, and his interactions with the rest of the Portwenn residents are as delightful as ever.
