Don’s curiosity brings a surprise for his friends in the Dinosaur Train season 4 episode 3, titled “New Neighbors/Don's Collection.”
In the first half of the episode, “New Neighbors,” the Pteranodon family is surprised to learn that they have new neighbors moving into their nest. Their new next-door neighbors are a family of beavers, which upsets Mr. Pteranodon who wants to keep his family away from them. However, upon meeting the new neighbors, the Pteranodons find out that the beavers can be great friends.
Together, they explore the nearby stream and learn about how the beavers construct their dams, while the Pteranodons share their knowledge about flying. The two families work together and have a great time, and Mr. Pteranodon learns a lesson about making assumptions about others.
In the second half of the episode, “Don's Collection,” Don loves collecting things and wants to show his new friends, the beavers, his amazing collection. However, when he realizes that some of his things are missing, he becomes upset and starts to think that the beavers took them. This leads to Don accusing the beavers of stealing, and Mr. Pteranodon steps in to teach Don about jumping to conclusions and assuming the worst.
Together, they learn that sometimes things get lost or misplaced without anyone’s fault, and that it is important to approach situations calmly and with an open mind. Don learns that his friends are more important than his possessions and that he should not let his collection define him.
