Buddy and his siblings Shiny and Tiny are back with their adoptive Pteranodon family for another exciting adventure in the Mesozoic era. In Dinosaur Train season 1 episode 7, titled "Now With Feathers! / A Frill a Minute," the gang learns all about the various features that make dinos stand out from one another through two fun-filled tales.
In the first half of the episode, "Now With Feathers!," a young dinosaur named Velma Volcano longs to be a bird after seeing Pterosaurs glide across the sky. Buddy and Tiny are eager to help their new friend achieve her dream, introducing her to Mr. Conductor, who's prepared to take her on a magical trip through time aboard the Dinosaur Train.
During their journey, Velma travels back in time with Mr. Conductor to meet a variety of feathered dinosaurs, including the famous Archaeopteryx. Velma is amazed to see that, unlike most dinosaurs, these creatures had feathers and beaks, much like modern-day birds. As they explore this new behavior and the advantages that feathers gave them, Velma starts to have second thoughts about wanting to be a bird and realizes the benefits of being a dino.
The second half of the episode, "A Frill a Minute," finds the Pteranodon family traveling to the Jurassic period to visit a whole new type of dinosaur – the Styracosaurus. This intriguing creature is unlike anything they've ever seen before, with a massive frill around its neck and even longer horns sticking out of its nose.
As they meet the new dino friend, Don, Buddy and his siblings learn all kinds of cool facts about the Styracosaurus. They also discover that this spiked herbivore has a surprising skill, using its frill to communicate with other Styracosaurus from far away. Together, they enjoy a game of tag, while learning about the various ways that dinos could communicate and attract a mate.
Overall, Dinosaur Train season 1 Episode 7, "Now With Feathers! / A Frill a Minute," is a fun and educational adventure that children and parents will undoubtedly enjoy. The young viewer will learn how behavior, physical features, and communication define dinosaur species. With their friends Buddy, Shiny, and Tiny, children will travel through the Mesozoic era and get up close and personal with some of the coolest dinos ever to have walked the earth.
