In "Pteranodon Family World Tour," the Pteranodon family travels around the world to learn about different dinosaurs and their environments. Throughout the episode, the family meets a variety of new species such as a Zephyrosaurus in the western interior sea, and a Kosmoceratops in the Cretaceous Plains. They also visit a giant sequoia forest and learn about the different types of plants that existed during the time of dinosaurs.
Meanwhile, in "Gilbert the Junior Conductor," Buddy and Tiny's fellow train enthusiast friend, Gilbert, takes on the role of conductor for the day. As Gilbert learns the ropes of being a conductor, he makes mistakes along the way and has to work to rectify them.
Throughout both episodes, the young audiences are educated about the different types of dinosaurs that existed during the Mesozoic era and the different environments they inhabited. The show emphasizes the importance of understanding different creatures and their ecosystems, as well as the importance of learning from one's mistakes.
