The Old Bird / Diamond Don is the twentieth episode of the first season of the animated children's series Dinosaur Train. The show follows the adventures of a family of Pteranodons, including siblings Buddy, Tiny, Shiny and Don, as they ride the Dinosaur Train to explore and learn about different prehistoric creatures.
In The Old Bird, the Pteranodon family meets an old bird named Mrs. Pteranodon, who is about to celebrate her 1000th hatchday. Mrs. Pteranodon is very excited to have her family join her for the celebration, but she's also feeling a bit sad. She doesn't know how much longer she will live, and she worries that when she's gone, her family won't have anyone to teach them about their family history.
Buddy, Tiny, Shiny, and Don decide to cheer Mrs. Pteranodon up by learning as much as they can about their family history before her hatchday party. They visit the family nest, where they find old photographs, journals, and other artifacts that help them piece together their family tree. Along the way, they learn about their ancestors, including a Pteranodon who was a famous musician, and another who was a great explorer.
As they learn more about their family history, the Pteranodon siblings start to understand just how important it is to remember their ancestors and their legacy. They realize that even though Mrs. Pteranodon won't be around forever, her memories and stories will live on through them and their children.
In Diamond Don, the Pteranodon family meets a Tyrannosaurus Rex named Diamond Don who loves sparkly things. Don is fascinated by Shiny's shiny shells, and he can't help but pick them up and admire them. Shiny is a bit hesitant to let Don play with her shells at first, but she soon realizes that he is just curious and means no harm.
Don takes the family to a nearby cave where he shows them lots of shiny rocks and crystals. He explains that he loves to collect them and keep them in his cave. The Pteranodons are amazed by the beauty of the crystals, and they have a great time exploring the cave and learning about the different types of rocks and minerals.
As they explore the cave, the family finds a giant diamond that Diamond Don has been searching for his whole life. Don is overjoyed to finally have found the diamond, but he soon realizes that it's too big for him to carry on his own. The Pteranodon family offers to help him bring the diamond back to his cave, and together they work to move the giant rock.
Along the way, they encounter some obstacles, including a steep mountain and a rushing river, but they work together to overcome them. When they finally reach Don's cave, they are amazed to see all of the beautiful crystals and rocks on display. Don thanks the Pteranodons for their help and offers to let them take a few extra crystals with them as a souvenir.
The episode ends with the Pteranodon family flying back home on the Dinosaur Train, reflecting on their fun-filled day with Diamond Don and the lessons they learned about teamwork and the beauty of nature.
Overall, The Old Bird / Diamond Don is a heart-warming episode that highlights the importance of family and teaches children valuable lessons about history, legacy, and teamwork. With its vibrant colors, catchy songs, and lovable characters, Dinosaur Train is a must-watch series for children who love to learn about and explore the world around them.
