After countless failed attempts at online dating, Adam stumbles upon a new app called "Matchmaker." Despite his initial skepticism, he decides to give the app a try. Suddenly, he is matched with the girl of his dreams, Amanda, and they quickly hit it off. However, as their relationship intensifies, strange things begin to happen, clueing Adam in to the fact that Matchmaker may not be all it seems.
Dimension 404 is a science-fiction anthology series that explores different dimensions and the strange phenomena that occur within them. This episode, titled "Matchmaker," takes place in modern-day Los Angeles, where protagonist Adam (Robert Buckley) is struggling to find love. Following yet another disappointing date, he stumbles upon a new dating app called Matchmaker. Upon creating his profile, he is almost immediately matched with his perfect match: beautiful and intelligent Amanda (Lea Michele). The two hit it off over the app, and soon begin dating in person.
As their relationship progresses, strange occurrences begin to happen around Adam and Amanda. They receive mysterious packages in the mail, and Amanda seems to have inside knowledge about Adam's past that she shouldn't. Adam begins to suspect that there is something sinister behind Matchmaker's algorithm, and that the app has an ulterior motive.
As the episode progresses, Adam becomes increasingly paranoid and desperate to uncover the truth about Matchmaker. With the help of his friends and a tech-savvy acquaintance, he begins to investigate the app's creators and the technology behind it. Ultimately, Adam must decide whether to trust Amanda and Matchmaker, or to take matters into his own hands and disrupt the app's plans.
"Matchmaker" explores themes of technology, relationships, and the dangers of relying too heavily on algorithms and artificial intelligence. The episode keeps viewers on the edge of their seat with its twists and turns, as Adam's paranoia and suspicions grow. Ultimately, the episode raises important questions about the role of technology in our love lives, and how much we can trust the machines we rely on.
