Ep 23. Digimon Adventure 02 23

After the epic final battle with the evil Daemon, the DigiDestined returned to the Digital World to find that it was in a state of chaos. Many parts of the Digital World were still corrupted from Daemon's influence, and several Digimon were acting strangely. Moreover, there was a new threat looming over the DigiDestined - the mysterious Digimon known as BlackWarGreymon.

In episode 23 of Digimon Adventure 02, the DigiDestined try to figure out a way to stop BlackWarGreymon from destroying the Destiny Stones that hold the Digital World together. They know that if too many stones are destroyed, the Digital World could collapse entirely. However, BlackWarGreymon is far too powerful for any individual DigiDestined to defeat alone, and they are unsure of how to work together to take him down.

Meanwhile, Kari is still recovering from the emotional trauma of having Oikawa and his partner Digimon, Yukio Oikawa, try to steal her and her brother Tai's DigiDestined powers. She confides in Yolei and Cody specifically about her concerns, which, while helpful to get the thoughts off her chest, doesn't provide her a lot of comfort or definitive answers.

This plot tension breaks to introduce the newest DigiDestined this season, Ken, who first appeared as the villainous Digimon Emperor but has since repented. He's working hand-in-hand with the others to help stop BlackWarGreymon, and they begin to realize that the only way to defeat him might be to give him what he's been searching for - a worthy opponent to battle.

The DigiDestined then decide to stage a fake battle with BlackWarGreymon in hopes of sating his desire to fight a strong enemy, without actually causing any serious damage to the Digital World. With help from their Digimon partners, they engage in a fierce battle with BlackWarGreymon. It seems like they might actually succeed in defeating him, but they soon realize that they're still no match for BlackWarGreymon's immense strength.

In the melee, Angemon and Angewomon surprisingly launch a massive combined attack on BlackWarGreymon, which threatens to harm him seriously. However, instead of destroying him, BlackWarGreymon looks inside his heart to see that he has actually managed to find what he's been searching for all along - purpose.

With a newfound sense of purpose, BlackWarGreymon leaves the battle, satisfied that he has finally found his place in the Digital World. This unexpected twist reveals that sometimes there is more going on than we initially assume and encourages the DigiDestined to keep pushing ahead to find the answers they need to protect the Digital World - and themselves.
