In the fourth episode of season one of Digging for the Truth, the host, Josh Bernstein, takes on the challenge of discovering the whereabouts of the legendary biblical artifact, the Ark of the Covenant. Hunt for the Lost Ark takes viewers on a journey around the world, exploring the myths and legends surrounding this ancient relic, while also examining the archaeology and history that might provide clues as to its current location.

The episode begins with Josh describing the Ark of the Covenant, which he calls "the ultimate religious icon". According to the Bible, the Ark was a golden box containing the tablets of the Ten Commandments, and was said to possess miraculous powers. However, its current whereabouts are unknown, with many theories and legends suggesting it could be buried under the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, or hidden in a remote part of Ethiopia.

To investigate these theories, Josh starts his search in Jerusalem, where he meets with archaeologists and historians who have been excavating the Temple Mount for years. He also visits the Western Wall, a site revered by Jews and believed by some to be a remnant of the Temple that once housed the Ark. However, despite the efforts of researchers, no definitive evidence has been found to suggest that the Ark is buried beneath the Temple Mount.

From Jerusalem, Josh heads to Ethiopia, where he explores the ancient Christian kingdom of Aksum. Here, he meets with local experts who believe that the Ark may be stored in a chapel in the remote town of Axum. However, as he soon discovers, gaining access to this highly-guarded location is no easy task.

As well as investigating these two popular theories, Josh also delves into other legends and stories associated with the Ark. He visits a monastery in Egypt where he hears tales of the Ark being hidden in a nearby cave, and also learns about the possible connection between the Ark and the Knights Templar.

Throughout the episode, Josh also provides plenty of historical and archaeological context, explaining the origins and significance of the Ark in Jewish and Christian tradition. He also explores the wider cultural impact of the Ark, from its depiction in popular culture to its role in modern-day politics.

Overall, Hunt for the Lost Ark is an engaging and fascinating episode, as Josh leads viewers on a global quest to uncover the truth about one of the world's most enduring mysteries. Whether you are a religious scholar or simply someone fascinated by ancient artifacts and legends, this episode is sure to capture your imagination and leave you questioning what might still be waiting to be discovered.
