Dharma & Greg season 4 episode 13 is titled "Educating Dharma (1)" and begins with Dharma feeling disheartened due to her lack of education and the inability to have a meaningful job. Greg suggests that she goes back to school, but Dharma thinks it's too late for her to do so. She then has a conversation with her mother and realizes that she had already completed high school and that it would be possible for her to attend college.

Dharma enrolls in a local community college and shares the news with her family. Her family, especially her father, expresses their disappointment and disbelief in her decision stating that they would have rather she just carry on with her life as a free-spirited hippie. Her father even compares her academic pursuits to getting a "real job" and selling out to the man. Dharma remains determined to succeed, which is evident in her dedication to her studies.

Greg also starts taking an interest in Dharma's education by taking classes with her. However, their study sessions turn into playful teasing and flirting, making it difficult for them to concentrate. The couple soon realizes that they will need to set boundaries if they are going to make this work. They even come up with a game where each must answer a question about the other person for every question about the subject.

Dharma begins to excel in her courses, surprising her parents and even herself. She develops a love for learning and feels as though she has finally found her calling. She starts to receive recognition for her work, including a scholarship offer for a prestigious university. However, she becomes conflicted when she realizes that accepting the scholarship would mean that she and Greg would have to separate for a year.

Dharma ultimately decides to follow her dreams, stating that her and Greg's relationship can handle the distance. She takes the scholarship, and in the next episode, will embark on a new journey as she pursues higher education.
