Ep 17. Lab on the Run

In Dexter's Laboratory season 3 episode 17, titled "Lab on the Run," the famous boy genius Dexter finds himself in a sticky situation when his laboratory is accidentally destroyed by one of his own inventions. In order to avoid getting into trouble with his parents, Dexter decides to take his laboratory on the road and sets out on a great adventure with his loyal sister DeeDee by his side.

The episode begins with Dexter working on an invention that is supposed to teleport his laboratory from one place to another. The invention seems to work fine during the testing phase, but when Dexter tries to teleport his entire laboratory to a different location, something goes wrong. Instead of teleporting the laboratory, the invention explodes and destroys the entire room!

Dexter is in panic mode as he realizes that his parents will be home soon and will see the mess he has made. In order to avoid getting into trouble, Dexter comes up with a plan to take his laboratory on the road and go on a great adventure with DeeDee. He quickly packs up all his equipment, but soon realizes it's not going to be easy to move around with his laboratory.

With his laboratory now set up on a trailer, Dexter sets out with DeeDee on a itsy-bitsy journey. However, things start to get complicated when they come across a stray dog who wants to join them on their adventure. Dexter is hesitant about bringing a stray dog along with him, but DeeDee convinces him to take the dog along.

As they continue on their adventure, Dexter and DeeDee find themselves in one problem after another. Dexter has to constantly tinker with his equipment to make it work as per his requirement and the situations they get into.

Things take a turn for the worse when they are pursued by a mysterious black van. Dexter becomes nervous when he realizes that the van has been following them for quite a while. He tells DeeDee that their adventure is over before it even began. But DeeDee comes up with a quick plan; she throws a "marauder’s map" over the van which makes it disappear.

In the middle of all this, they eventually stop to take a break this time from their adventurous life. In the very calm atmosphere, Dexter has an opportunity to think about what actually drives him, what he wants to achieve with his lab, what he wants to create and help the world with his intelligence. This moment takes the episode to a different level as Dexter realizes the importance of his laboratory work.

Their adventure continues and they finally come to their destination – the snowy mountains. But there, they realize that their original plan to move the laboratory was a mistake. The lab could not continue on the road forever, and Dexter realizes he needs to face the consequences of his actions at home.

In the end, the episode brings a revelation to the viewers as Dexter realizes the true value of his laboratory work and how much he wants to continue that pursuit, regardless of where it takes him. It also showcases how important it is to face the consequences of one's actions and to learn from them.
