Ep 3. Defiance Jr. High School
- December 9, 2022
In season 4 episode 3 of Destination Fear, the team travels to Oklahoma City to investigate an abandoned junior high school that has a reputation for being haunted. Defiance Jr. High School has been left vacant for years, but locals claim to have heard strange noises coming from the building and seen unexplainable movements within its walls.
As they arrive at the location, the team members - Dakota, Chelsea, Alex, and Tanner - are already visibly spooked. They begin to explore the school, which is dark, decrepit, and filled with remnants of the past. They find old desks, lockers, and books scattered around the classrooms, as well as graffiti and vandalism left by previous visitors.
The team splits up to cover more ground, and each member brings their own equipment to capture any paranormal activity they might encounter. Dakota and Chelsea use an EMF (electromagnetic field) reader, which can detect energy fields that are said to be related to ghostly entities. Alex brings an SLS (Structured Light Sensor) camera, which creates a 3D map of the environment and can show the presence of humanoid figures that are not visible to the naked eye. Tanner uses a modified digital recorder to capture Electronic Voice Phenomena (EVP), which are sounds that human ears cannot detect but that are believed to be voices of ghosts or spirits.
As they investigate different areas of the school, the team members start to experience strange occurrences. Dakota and Chelsea hear footsteps and banging noises coming from the second floor, even though no one is supposed to be there. Alex's SLS camera captures what appears to be a human figure standing in a corner of the gym, but it disappears when he tries to approach it. Tanner's EVP recording picks up faint whispers and echoes of sounds that can't be explained by natural causes.
As they compare notes, the team members become increasingly convinced that there is something paranormal happening in the school. They decide to conduct a séance in one of the classrooms, hoping to communicate with any spirits that might be there. They hold hands and invite the ghosts to make contact, and soon they start to feel an eerie presence around them. Dakota and Chelsea sense a cold draft and see shadows moving in the room, while Alex's SLS camera shows strange shapes forming in front of them. Tanner's EVP recorder captures a clear voice saying "get out".
Despite feeling scared and uncomfortable, the team continues their investigation throughout the night. They explore the basement, which is filled with old equipment and has a creepy atmosphere. They climb to the rooftop, where they get a panoramic view of the surrounding area and spot what might be a ghostly figure in the distance. They also visit the janitor's closet, which is rumored to be one of the most haunted spots in the school. There, they find a rusty pair of scissors and speculate about their possible connection to the spirits.
As dawn approaches and their investigation comes to an end, the team members reflect on their experiences and discuss the evidence they collected. They agree that Defiance Jr. High School is one of the most haunted places they've ever visited, and that they encountered several unexplainable phenomena while there. They hope that their investigation will shed some light on the mysterious happenings in the school, and perhaps even offer some peace to the restless spirits that seem to be lingering there.
